Want to become a DISD substitute ?

- Certified Classroom Teacher: Persons must have a current, valid Texas certification (as verified through SBEC). Pay is $125.00/day
- Long Term (5+ consecutive days for a teacher position) – $155/day
- Classroom Teacher Degreed: Persons holding a Bachelor's degree or higher. Associate's degrees do not qualify. Pay is $105.00/day
- Long Term (5+ consecutive days for a teacher position) – $125/day
- Classroom Teacher Non-Degreed: Persons who have at least a high school diploma/GED. Pay is $90.00/day
- Long Term (5+ consecutive days for a teacher position) – $105/day
- Certified Classroom Teacher: Persons must have a current, valid Texas certification (as verified through SBEC). Pay is $125.00/day

- Complete onlineAPPLICATION for Substitute Teacher. If possible, attach diploma/transcripts and any certifications held.
- Bring a copy of your high school diploma or college transcript to Substitute Teacher Training.
- Read Form I-9 and bring the necessary supporting documentation to Substitute Teacher training.
- For IRS and PARS purposes we request your social security card.
- Attend a Dayton ISD Substitute Teacher training. Professional attire is required.
- Complete Criminal History Check
- Complete the required fingerprinting process through TEA and pay $48.95 once you have received your fingerprint pass from IdentoGo Services after attending our substitute teacher training course.
- Complete all required tasks in TalentEd

- Substitutes that are returing for the 2025-2026 school year will need to complete 25-26 Sub application in order to be registered for Refresher training.
- Qualified Refresher will have substituted a minimum of 5 days in the 2nd Semester of the 2024-25 school year. If requirement has not been met you will need to complete the NEW substitute training.
