Dear DISD Community,

A concern about the quality of air at SFA Elementary School was recently brought to our attention. DISD took immediate action and had air quality tests conducted inside and outside of the campus last week.  Before we received the final written report the district started taking some proactive measures. As promised, we want to update you on the SFA campus.

Dayton ISD engaged CAM Environmental Services, a highly recommended company that inspects and reports on such matters. CAM conducted its inspection of the main campus and an outside building last week.  The report shows that areas tested are within an acceptable air quality range. The air quality in one room in an outside building has been affected by water intrusion, but not to a level that requires more than comparatively basic remediation. Because it is a room with self-contained air circulation, other rooms in that building are not affected. Remedial measures suggested by CAM were immediately commenced, and work will continue into the weekend. We will continue to take additional measures to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

DISD appreciates the parents, SFA staff and students for their continued support and want to reassure everyone that we will always put our children first by following policy, laws and taking appropriate actions in a timely manner.  Dayton ISD encourages the continued use of appropriate channels of communication with the proper personnel so that we can better address any concerns. Please know that the safety and security of our children and staff along with academic success is always our first priority.

Thank you.
